Piano/Keyboard Sandy Ryan-Sandy is the owner of Music Dynamics of Sussex and has taught piano and voice to all ages and levels for over 16 years.   She studied voice, piano, and piano pedagogy at UW-Waukesha and Alverno College as an adult.   She is also certified to teach Musikgarten, a pre-school music program. In the summer of 2007 she completed the Keyboard Ensemble Technology Seminar sponsored by the Yahama Corporation, Ensemble Connection and the University of Kentucky-Lexington where she honed her skills at teaching small keyboard groups and ensembles.  She regularly attends workshops and seminars for piano teachers sponsored by WMTA and local universities.  Sandy serves on the State Executive Board of the Wisconsin Music Teachers Association as the Independent Music Teachers' Forum Chairperson.   She has also achieved the third level of the Teacher Award of Excellence from WMTA.  She has a broad background in church music, both as an employed music director and volunteer.   She is currently employed at Lisbon Presbyterian Church as the principal pianist/organist Sandy is a proud local resident of the Sussex/Lisbon area and supports the community through membership in the Sussex Area Chamber of Commerce, participation in the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life and charitable donations of music lessons to local churches and organizations.

Meet Our Instructors

Voice

Darralyn Scott- Darralyn received her musical training at the Peabody Institute
in Baltimore where she earned a Master of Music degree in Performance.  As an
undergraduate at UW-Whitewater, she studied voice and flute, and performed many
styles of music ranging from Broadway to Opera, Orchestral to Chamber.  Darralyn
speaks French fluently and has studied Italian and German, as well as diction for
singers with expert Thomas Grubb, an acclaimed Juilliard professor.  She has sung
professionally with the Baltimore Opera Chorus and performs at the Italian
Community Center in Milwaukee and she performs at Festa Italiana.   Darralyn spent
a month in Italy last summer where she performed Opera roles, received lessons and
coachings, and continued her studies of the Italian Language.

Musikgarten

Linda Ambrus- Linda graduated with a double major in Psychology and English from
Cardinal Stritch University as an adult.  She is certified by Musikgarten to teach the Cycle of
Seasons classes.  Linda has served as a church musician since childhood and directed the
handchime choir at Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church in Sussex.  She currently plays
handbells at Mount Caramel Lutheran Church in Milwaukee and is proficient on the fife with
the Revolutionary War Re-enactment groups.  Linda is particularly well-suited to work with
small children.  She is also the facilitator for the music-making and wellness Clavinova
Connection classes here.

Guitar

Keith Pulvermacher- Keith grew up in Butler and has played guitar since he was seven
years old.  He has performed live for the last fifteen years and has recorded on ten different
albums with his partner Kevin Sucher.  He has done sessions with many Grammy winning
artists including Kenny Aronoff and Louis Johnson.  Keith has performed live in New York,
Chicago, Nashville, L.A. Baltimore, and London.  Venues like the Riverside, House of Blues,
the Barrymore Theater and S.I.R.  He has showcased in L.A., New York, and Nashville for
major labels including R.C.A., Sony, Interscope, Island/Def Jam, Arista, J-records, and
Columbia.  Keith has played opening acts for Hall and Oates, Blessid Union of Souls, Duncin
Sheik, Six Pence None the Richer, Howard Jones, and Dada.  Currently, Keith performs
weekly at Rooters and plays with the popular band, The Love Monkeys.

Lee McAdams Smith- Lee is a very versatile musician having mastered electric, acoustic
and classical guitar as well as the mandolin, the harmonica and the bass guitar.  He has been
teaching in the area for over two years since he left his hometown, New Orleans.  Lee's
interests include Baroque music, Figured Bass, and the music of Bach.  

Larry Kaplin-Larry is an advanced guitarist who has been teaching guitar and playing in
local bands for over thirty years.  Larry works with students of all ages and levels from
beginner to advanced.  Techniques that Larry features in his lessons include flat and finger
picking, and styles he is fluent in include Rock, Jazz, Latin, Blues, Classical, Country, and
Chord-Melody Style.

Drums

Mike Nell- Mike majored in Percussion Performance, with an emphasis on snare drum
and drumset, at UW-Milwaukee.  He played professionally in several bands during high
school and college, and enjoys teaching students of all ages.

Romail Bhatti-Romail received his training in a variety of Indian Instruments at the
National Art Council of Lahore Rawalpindi in Islamabad.  His performance experience is very
diverse, ranging from Asian and Middle Eastern Radio Stations to festivals throughout
Wisconsin and even Miller Park Stadium in Milwaukee.  Instruments he specializes in
teaching are the tabla, harmonium, volcas, and traditional singing.

Band and Orchestral Instruments

Tim Kirschenmann - Saxophone - Tim has studied music and religion at Carroll
College since 2002 and is noted as a versatile performer, capable in many genres.  
His performance experiences range from notable guest appearances with Ian
Abrahamson, and the Toys to playing with groups such as Hot Sauce, Black Earth Plus
w/Duchi Rodgers.  Currently, he performs with Solset, Sawa Me and the Brian
McLaughlin Band.

Renae Smith - Violin & Cello - Renae has been playing and studying violin for 28
years and the cello for 7 years.  She attended Oshkosh University, Project Create of
Waukesha, the "West-Suburban Suzuki Academy of Brookfield" and the Suzuki
Institute of Stevens Point (6 yrs as a student, 4 yrs as a teacher trainee).  She enjoys
teaching both the Suzuki and traditional methods and has been doing so on violin for 12
years and cello for 4 years.  She teaches ages 4yrs-adult.  Her bubbly personality and
dedication shows in her students' accomplishments and on their happy faces.
